A new quarter is being created in the heart of Eimsbüttel

The Stadtmacherei Eimsbüttel

Beiersdorf is redesigning its factory premises in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel to make the company's headquarters fit for the future, both structurally and organizationally. The relocation of the corporate headquarters to Troplowitzstrasse, planned by 2024, will free up the area between Unnastrasse and Quickbornstrasse for a new, lively residential and urban quarter in the middle of Eimsbüttel: 3.4 hectares of space for 700 to 900 rental apartments, small-scale local amenities, and open spaces for public use.

The redesign of the neighborhood follows the approach of co-creation: with the format of "Stadtmacherei", specially developed by urbanista, an intensive participation process started in summer 2018. The temporary local future laboratory invited the people of Eimsbüttel to help shape the planning of the new urban neighborhood in dialogue with experts. After the first three years of process support, the next round is now underway and the structural engineering competition is being prepared.
